Ahead of the UEFA Women's Euro 2025, co-hosts Switzerland suffered a shocking 7-1 defeat against Luzern's Under-15 boys team in a friendly match held behind closed doors. The unexpected result has raised eyebrows and sparked debate about the team's readiness for the upcoming tournament.

The friendly, divided into three 30-minute periods, was intended to be confidential. However, details of the lopsided scoreline were leaked on social media. According to reports from Swiss media outlet Blick, a Luzern youth player shared clips from the match on TikTok, revealing the score before the footage was taken down. The video reportedly featured Juventus forward Alisha Lehmann and teammate Alayah Pilgrim and amassed over 70,000 views.
This isn't the first time the Swiss team has faced youth opposition as part of their Euro 2025 preparations. They previously lost 2-1 to FC Solothurn’s U-15 side but secured a 2-1 victory against FC Biel’s U-15s.
The Swiss Football Association has attempted to downplay the significance of the defeat. Spokesperson Sven Micosse stated, "It's not uncommon in women's football to compete against junior teams. The goal is to bring a certain competitive element. The focus during this phase of preparation is on the physical aspect. Regardless of the result, these training matches are very similar to our international matches in terms of intensity and mileage."
Despite the association's efforts to minimize the impact, the heavy defeat raises questions about the team's form as they prepare to host the prestigious tournament.
Switzerland, as hosts, automatically qualified for Euro 2025. Their next match is a formal friendly against Czechia before their tournament campaign kicks off against Norway on July 2nd.
