Sharan Hegde, the entrepreneur behind The 1% Club and the 'financewithsharan' YouTube channel, recently reported a hacking incident affecting his YouTube account. The breach, announced via his personal Instagram, saw hackers hijacking his channel to stream Bitcoin prices.
According to Hegde, the unauthorized live stream promoted Bitcoin values reaching \$100,000. In what he described as a negotiation, all content on his YouTube channel was initially erased, although subsequently recovered.
"The hacker took control of the account & started a live stream of Bitcoin prices reaching \$100k - without my consent, of course," Hegde stated in his Instagram post. "Within minutes, I got 100s of DMs from you guys informing me about the fact. Thank you so much for alerting me but unfortunately the channel got terminated & I didn't know what to do. My 3 years of hard work just disappeared right in front of my eyes.”
Following this incident, it's crucial to reinforce your YouTube account's security. YouTube provides several recommendations on its official support page to help users maintain a secure online presence:
