ChatGPT, the popular AI chatbot, experienced a global outage, leaving many users unable to access the service. Downdetector, a website that tracks outages, reported a surge in user reports indicating issues with OpenAI's chatbot.
According to reports, approximately 91% of users encountered problems accessing ChatGPT. Around 7% reported website access issues, while the remaining users were unable to log into their accounts. Frustrated users turned to X (formerly Twitter) to voice their concerns about the disruption.
OpenAI addressed the outage through its official status page, acknowledging "increased latency and errors affecting both ChatGPT and APIs."
The company has since resolved the issue, and the service is now operational. According to the official OpenAI Status page, "Performance is now back to normal."
The TOI Tech team verified the restoration by successfully accessing ChatGPT via both the web and the mobile app, confirming that it is functioning smoothly without any apparent problems.
