Elon Musk's X Corp. (formerly Twitter) has taken decisive action against over 500,000 accounts in India for violating platform policies. These bans, executed between January 26 and February 25, target accounts involved in promoting terrorism and child sexual exploitation.

According to reports, X Corp. banned 506,173 accounts for activities related to child sexual exploitation and the sharing of non-consensual images. Furthermore, 1,982 accounts were suspended for promoting terrorist activities.
In total, X Corp. banned 508,155 accounts in India during the specified period. The platform also processed approximately 14,421 complaints from Indian users through its grievance redressal mechanisms. Around 41 requests concerning account suspensions were also addressed.
X Corp. stated, "We overturned 1 of these account suspensions after reviewing the specifics of the situation. The remaining reported accounts remain suspended." The company also noted receiving 71 requests related to general account inquiries during the reporting period.
This action is consistent with X Corp.'s ongoing efforts to enforce its platform policies. From December 26 to January 25, the platform banned approximately 231,215 accounts in India. During that same period, 1,945 accounts were banned for promoting terrorism.
