Givemore Makoni, the Managing Director of Zimbabwe Cricket, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming series. "We are delighted to confirm Sri Lanka's visit to Zimbabwe for what we expect to be a thrilling and competitive series," he stated.

The T20I series holds particular significance for Zimbabwe as it serves as crucial preparation for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Regional Final, which Zimbabwe will host starting September 19. This tournament offers Zimbabwe a pathway to secure a coveted spot in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2027.

Makoni emphasized the historical competitiveness between the two nations. "Matches between our two nations have always produced entertaining cricket and this tour comes at a crucial time for our team as we prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup qualifying campaign," he added.

This series marks the beginning of a busy three-month schedule for Zimbabwe. Following the Sri Lanka series, they are also set to host South Africa and New Zealand for two-match Test series. A T20I tri-series, featuring all three nations, is also planned within this period.
