The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to launch its own T20 league in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing trend among state associations.
Anil Patel, Secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association, confirmed the decision to launch the T20 league. While the decision has been made, the GCA is still working to determine the best time to hold the tournament and finalize the number of participating teams. Details regarding the format and other specifics are also under consideration.
These domestic T20 leagues across India have emerged as crucial platforms for IPL franchises to scout and identify emerging talent. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra provide invaluable opportunities for local cricketers to gain recognition and potentially advance their careers. Many of these leagues are typically held in June and July, following the conclusion of the IPL season in May.
