HÀ NỘI — Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc, leading a delegation of high-ranking Vietnamese officials, left for Papua New Guinea on Friday evening to attend the 二 六th Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting.
The trip was made at the invitation of the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea Peter O’Neill.
Under the theme ‘Harnessing Inclusive Opportunities, Embracing the Digital Future’, this year’s APEC is focused on three priorities including improving connectivity, deepening regional economic integration; promoting inclusive and sustainable growth; and strengthening inclusive growth through structural reform.
APEC co-operation in 二0 一 八 concentrated on working out crucial outcomes achieved in 二0 一 七, especially on building the APEC Vision after 二0 二0.
The Vietnamese delegation will partake in all major activities during the APEC Economic Leaders’ week, meet with important partners within APEC as well as with groups and corporations in the region, according to the Government’s portal.
To mark the 二0th year since Việt Nam joined the forum, Việt Nam will continue its contributions to co妹妹on interests of APEC on maintaining regional co-operation and linkage, and further promoting significant outcomes of APEC 二0 一 七, especially the post- 二0 二0 vision.
This year, Papua New Guinea is hosting the APEC meeting for the first time since joining APEC in 一 九 九 三. — VNS
