I just received his write up of his Rogers line.

During some search of my files of Rogers info., I cam across a page that I received 13 Nov. 1981 from John Thomas, 379 Portlock Rd., Honolulu, HI 96825. His note indicated that he had received the info. from a distant cousin named Ruth Long. At the time, it did not connect to the info. I had on direct ancestors, so couldn't place it into proper prospective. Anyway, thought it may contain some clues that have not been explored and/or may have errors that can be found and discarded.

According to Adair County Court House records:
On 4 August 1835, Asa Rogers made an oath in court that William Rogers, Revolutionary pensioner named in Pension Certificate No. 13674, departed this life 1 May 1835. He was three weeks shy of the his 87th birthday. On the same date, John B. Rogers, administrator of the estate of William Rogers, deceased, appeared in court and appointed three commissioners to appraise the slaves, if any, and the estate of the deceased.
The relationship of Asa Rogers to William Rogers is not given...however, filed at the Adair County Library in the genealogy research room is a chart containing the descendents of William Rogers Jr. Asa Rogers b. ca 1804 Adair Co. KY; d. Jan 1842 Adair Co. KY. m. 13 Oct 1824 Adair Co. to Patsy Price (Robt.Price attested) He is listed as having two children, John Thomas and Joseph Robert Rogers.
According to the same chart "William Rogers SR. b 24 May 1748 Culpeper Co., Va : d 1 May 1835 Adair Co KY; m ca 1770 Letty R.______. He entered service from Montgomery Co., Va where he lived for ca 46 ys. before migrating to Adair Co. KY. At age 86 he received a pension for his service in the Va Militia. Asa Rogers testified to his death date.
The 1850 census of Adair County lists;
# 382 Rodgers, J.B. (male) age 79 b Va
Mary, age 67 b. VA
I have seen William Rogers, Revolutionary War listed with his pension number, and Virginia Line in two different publications...I will have to return to the local library to verify the source....one in a book of Virginia records which lists him next to Windle Bright and the other a publication by a member of the Adair County Ky genealogical society which lists pensioners of Adair and surrounding counties... Windle Bright was listed as living in Taylor County.. It caught my eye because my ggrandfather was named Windle B. Rodgers.
