William S. Robberson b. Nov. 1830 Bedford Co., TN, son of William C. and Annie Saye Robberson, grandson of Elizabeth Pettigrew Robberson. Married Mary Susan Griffin, Feb. 6,1862 in Greene Co., MO. Susan b. April 1834 in Virginia.

William and Susan had 3 daughters:

Nettie J. b. 2/1870
Ella B. b. 9/13/1872
Lillie Mae b. 4/1874

Until I looked at the 1860 Greene Co., MO census, I had not known that William S. had been previously married. The census listing reads as follows:

1860 Greene Co., MO Census Campbell Twp. 7 Aug. 1860
P.O. Springfield
p155 Family # 1096

W. S. Robertson 29 M Saddler 500 Tenn
Cinthia 27 F "
J. L. 8 M Mo
F. A. 6 M "
Mary 3 F "
Sallie 1 F "

In the 1870 Greene Co. Census, William is listed as follows:

1870 Greene Co., MO Census Campbell Twp. 21 June 1870
P.O. Springfield
p101 Family # 540
Robertson, William 39 M Harness Maker 200 Tenn
Mary 37 F keeping house VA
Nettie 4/12 F MO
Griffin, John 19 M Harness Maker MO
" Mary 17 F MO

The questions I have are:

How early are the marriages of Greene co. documented? Is the marriage of William S. Robberson and Cynthia ? listed?

What happened between 1860 and 1862, that Cynthia and the children disappeared? (Epidemic, divorce?) John and Mary Griffin listed in the 1870 census are probably Mary's children from her previous marriage.
