The picture (below left) c.1905, belonged to my grandmother Lela Ann Hilderbrand Stevenson. The names were written on the back and I have tried to list them as I read them. The ones that are underlined are listed the best that I could figure out. I don't know who Aunt Minie that is listed was.
Isaac Newton Rogers (28 December 1849-12 October 1938) was a physician. His nephew, C. E. Rogers wrote of him and his brother John Clark Rogers:
" Father and his brother Isaac Newton were sent to St. Louis to study medicine. Uncle Doc got his M.D. but Father was unable to stomach the cadavers and switched to a business college, such as it was in those days. Uncle Doc started his practice in a village which became known as Rogersville. The story is that he sold some land he owned in the vicinity to the Springfield and Southern Railroad for a station upon condition that it would be named for him. He was a successful doctor, later practicing in Springfield, about 18 miles from Ozark."
As you see, Rogersville, Webster Co, MO was named after Dr. I. N. Rogers.
Isaac Newton Rogers' father was the census taker in the 1850 Greene Co, MO Census. The entry for Isaac who was less than one year old at the time was: "Sir I. N. Rogers".

Jerry,
Thanks for passing the information on to me. I have been in contact with Mable about the Rogers family. Laura Ann Fowler who was the housekeeper for "Uncle Ike" was my 2nd cousin 4 x removed. Mable and I have a connection to the Elkins family, my gggg-grandmother Ann Elkins was brother to her Thomas Elkins. In that generation Mable and I connect with another line. Thomas Elkins m. Mary "Polly" Melton sister to my gggg-grandfather James Mattison Melton.
Do you have Polly Ann Watts who m. Jesse Montgomery Humble. Jesse was a brother to my gg-grandmother Mary Ann Humble Kelly Williams. Mary's daughter Eliza Jane Kelly m. Siegel F. Hilderbrand was a brother to Carrie Hilderbrand who m. "Doc" Isaac Rogers. Polly Ann Watts Humble is buried in Watts Cemetery.

Hi Jerry
I was down home last month and met with Bill Hilderbrand. My grandmother and his grandfather were brother and sister. Bill's mother has done a lot of research on the Hilderbrand family. Bill brought his mothers papers with him when he came over to my parents house.
Here is some that he had on Doc Rogers and Carrie.
Carrie died of cancer on July 22, 1943
Doc Rogers died of pneumonia on Oct 12, 1938
I am sure you have some of this information. If you find anything new let me know. Jessie and Jack never married and lived at the Rogers farm in Rogersville. Peach married Carl C. Brown and they lived in Port Royal, VA, she is a member of the DAR. Sherman went to CA and was a druggist. He died of a heart attack.
This information came from a letter written to Marian Hilderbrand of KS. from Charley Tucker of Springfield, MO. Charley was a member of the Hildebrand family of Dallas Co.
I also talked to my cousin who knew Jack and Jessie quite well. He said Jack had gone to Medical School in Columbia but left before he graduated because he didn't like blood. He also said that Jessie had gone to MU and studied to be a pharmacist. I don't know if she graduated or not.
Ozark Bank handled the estates of Jack and Jessie. Since they had no children Gene was not sure of what happened to the family pictures and papers. He said some may be stored at the bank. If there was heirs from either Peach or Sherman maybe you could get their addresses. If they were sent the family papers to them. I was hoping to get some more information from him but he had to go out of town on business.
I was at the new library in Springfield and was going to look up their obits but run out of time. I had gone home because my mother was in the hospital. She is starting her 16th week of having the shingles. Because she was in so much pain she wasn't up moving around and she got pneumonia in both lungs. Still has the shingles but is over the pneumonia.
Hope that maybe some of this helps. If you write to the bank let me know if you find out anything.
Becky
