../../../../photos/rogerssmith.jpg This photo must have been taken about 1917-1919. The adults on the left are: Ora Etta Rayl b. 1891 and her husband Roy Newton Rogers b. 1886 with their three children: Mildred Marie b. 1914, John Martin b. 1916 and Margaret Ruth b. 1912. The stately man in the dark jacket and hat is the family patriarch Martin Price Rogers (1850-1826). He was reportedly a Civil War vet. I have not yet been able to confirm that.  Next to him is Sarah Ellen Smith (1855-1936). The next two are William (Bill) H. Craker b. 1870 and his wife Floy A. Rogers b. 1879, daughter of Martin Price and Sarah (Smith) Rogers. The two girls to the left and right of Sarah (Smith) Rogers are Lucille Brougher b. 1909 and her sister Thelma (Tillie) Brougher b. 1911. They were daughters of Floy's sister Addie S. Rogers who died 1913 and her husband Lloyd Brougher. The two girls were raised by Bill & Floy (Rogers) Cracker. On the far right is the young Guy Emmerson Rogers. I have always wondered where his wife, Fay Ruth Rayl (sister of Ora) was. It could be that she was too pregnant with their first daughter, Helen Frances Rogers b. 9 Nov 1918 (two years and one day after they were married) to be present for the photo. One final note: Martin Price died on 7 Nov 1926.... exactly 50 years to the day after his father, Reuben Brawley Rogers, died. His son, Guy E. Rogers also died in November as did his son, Robert A. Rogers. That is four generations. As the fifth generation, I'm always very glad to see 1 December. Not only did Guy E. Rogers' father and grandfather die on 7 Nov, but his father-in-law, John Tillman Rayl, also died on 7 Nov.
