Benjamin Franklin Ausmus' mother married my gg uncle after Hiram died. Hiram died in Ark., I believe and Sally died in Mo. the wife of George Wright.
Ben's g-Aunt, Sarah (Eliza) Ausmus is my ggg-grandmother on the Ellison side.
Ethel Francisco Sharp (a cousin to mother on the Keck side) was my fifth and sixth grade school teacher and lived two houses up the street. Ethel now lives with her daughter, Judy, in Middlesboro, Ky. Ethel's nephew lives across the street from me.
Glenna Isabelle Sharp Rogers and her Aunt, Edith Elizabeth Rogers Carr, were two of my High School teachers. Their Uncle, William H. (Harry Bill) Rogers, shoot and killed my g-grandfather, John F. Rogers, for killing his brother Jimmy (so the story goes).
Glenna and Boyd's son, Robert, was in my class in High School. They live down the road from me. Boyd (ggg-grandson of Preacher Bill) is a cousin of my Dad's on the Brantley side (Boyd's mother is Gertrude Brantley).
Edith Carr lived across from the Rogers Cem. and Henderson's old place at Speedwell. Edith is the dears, sweets person you will ever meet!!!!!!!!!!!

We have lost another one of our elder relatives. I and my wife met her in the mid 90's and she pointed out where our ancestors were buried. She invited us into her home and shared her knowledge of some of our early ancestors. This very nice lady will be missed by many.

CARR, EDITH ROGERS - age 91, went to be with her Dear Heavenly Father and her devoted husband of 52 years, Albert S. Carr, Sr., and other beloved members of her family Tuesday, July 25, at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation Center, Lancaster Ohio.
Born September 25, 1906, in Speedwell, Tenn. the daughter of the late Stephen H. and Cora Smith Rogers, she was a graduate of Lincoln Memorial University, class of 1930, with a B.A. Degree in U.S History and English and a member of the Kappa Pi Omega Sorority. She retired after teaching 40 years in Claiborne County School System, 32 years as a high school teacher. She was a member of Claiborne County Retired Teachers Association, Tenn. Retired Teachers Assoc., National Retired Teachers Assoc.,
Alpha Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, and Rev. Phillip Ausmus Chapter of the DAR. She was active in Cawood United Methodist Church in which she was a life time member.
She taught Sunday school 40 years, was chairman of Administrative Board many years, Secretary of Administrative Board, and President of Women's Society of Christian Service many years. She loved people, old and young, and always took time to write notes of encouragement and congratulations, to visit sick and shut ins and to send get will and sympathy cards.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Libby) and husband, Frank Hensley of Lancaster, Ohio; son, Albert Carr, Jr., and wife, Allcia of Apollo Beach, Fla.; eight grandchildren, James Hensley, Jr., Michael Hensley, Elizabeth Hensley, Vickie and Barry Ferguson, Jennifer Carr, Natalie Carr, Albert Carr III and Heather and Ralph Carr; great grandsons, Alexander, Christopher and Zachary Ferguson; sister in law, Jeanette Irwin Rogers, and many special nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert S. Carr, Sr.; sisters and brothers in law, Anna and Robert Sharp and Ina and Carl Schubert; brothers and sister in law, Henderson and Arline Craig Rogers and Smith Rogers.
Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Friday evening and one hour prior to service Saturday morning at Cawood United Methodist Church, Speedwell, Tenn. Funeral at Cawood United Methodist Church, Saturday, July 29, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Bill Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Carr Cemetery. Cross
