Subject: Rayle family
Have been researching American Rayles for the past twenty years. The first generation is a William Rayle who is married to Elizabeth, place unknown. They are paying taxes in Chester Co., PA, in 1730.
Hope to find William's family and it is my belief they are from Cornwall. We toured Cornwall ten or twelve years ago and went to the parishes where there were Rayles shown. We visited one (I think it was Redruth) where there were Rayles buried in the cemetery with the same names as are used by

William Rayle married Elizabeth. Their first child was Ann Rayl born 15 July 1765. The notes next to several of the children, 10 in all, indicate that parts of the family moved to Honey Creek, White Lick Ind. Is there a connection to what you have? Here are all the names: Ann Rayl, Elizabeth Rayl, Mary Rayl, William and twin Matthew Rayl, Thomas, Nathan, Rachel, George and Jeane. dating 1765 - 1782. Any connections? Thanks.

John -
William RAYLE may indeed have been born in about 1725, but it certainly wasn't in Indiana. This is just one of the many things wrong in the LDS records. I have taken to using LDS info as just simply clues to help in my searching, and verify EVERYTHING. I took several weeks and went through the tangled loops that the LDS info turned into and tried to straighten out as best I could, and think I have pretty well succeeded, and now my records more or less jive pretty well with other Rayl descendents I have been in contact with.
There are several lines that come from William's children. Mine is from his son George and into the Quaker records. Another line that Jean Jones has quite well documented is from William's youngest son Samuel (her ancestor).
Check one of her postings on this Forum, or on the RAYLE Forum, and email her direct. She can be of immense help to you. Also you can ask her to put you in touch with Norma Rayl Rock, another researcher who is on my side of the family (through George/Quakers).
