Jerry,
The date you have for Martin Case's death certainly fits with the most logical and reasonable conclusions. However the date on the stone is 1862, the last time I went there I specifically checked to make sure since the Polk Co. Cemetery Book had 1862 and I didn't think it fit with what I thought was reasonable family information. What is your source for the 1867 date? I thimk we should accept your date and assume the other is simple an error on the stone.
My parents were William E. [Bill] & Alma Jones. My was aunt & uncle were Ruby and Laura Eagon. My aunt Laura is still living at age 87, however she is not well, recently had a heart attack and congestive heart failure.
As to who the children in the Case Cemetery belong to, I'm sorry I have no idea. There was no information on the stones as there was on some of the others. None of them lived long enough to appear on a census, so without their names in a family Bible we may never know.

Cheryl,
Since you and Jerry both show the death date for Martin Case, son of Wm., as 1867, I think we should all accept that as fact and that the date on the tombstone is simply an error. Do you recall your source of that date?
Do any of you have confirmation for my claim as a Case Cousin? By that I mean are we sure Eliza Rowland's maiden name was Case, or are we operating on logical deductions? I feel rather confident that Eliza is the daughter of Wm. Case, but would love to see some concrete evidence. The supportive but non-concrete evidence is:
1. William Case and William Rowland, John's father, lived in the same area in McNairy Co. Tn. in 1840 and 1850. This area is now Chester Co. Tn. and apparently near the border of Hardeman Co.
2. John and Eliza Rowland came to the Dallas/Polk Co. Mo. area where Wm. Case lived and at the same time. Also his brother James and Lovicy (Case?) Rowland came at the same time and lived in the same area.
3. The marriages of Martin Case and Barbara Jackson, Thomas Case and Mary Jackson, and James McMillan and Nancy Jackson are all recorded in Hardeman Co. Tn. All three couples came to Missouri at the same time and lived in the same area. Marriage records in McNairy Co., Tn. burned in the 1860.
Are you all convinced as yet? Any other points that I haven't listed?
Harold.

I agree with an 1867 death date for Martin Case, Sr. I believe the 1862 date on the gravestone is wrong. Either it has weathered to look like a "7" or was inscribed wrong by the engraver. Since Martin Case, Jr. was not born until 1865, I believe the 1867 date makes more sense. I believe some of the Case Gang had a discussion about this some time ago, and we decided to go with the 1867 death date.

Do any of you have a clue as to the parents of Barbara Jackson (born KY??) who married Martin Case, and Mary Jackson (born TN?) who married Thomas Case?
I have very little info on the Jacksons. Maybe we can come up with some answers. When the weather clears, I will go to the library and do some research on them.
There was a John Jackson on the 1820 MS census with 3 girls 10-16. I think he was probably the father of Elizabeth Jackson who married Hiram Case in 1824. Elizabeth named her first son John. He was born in TN. Hiram and Elizabeth's sons, Thomas and Jesse left MS 1859/1860 and showed up on Clark Co., AR 1860 census living with Susan Jackson and husband, Peter Garner. Susan Jackson, father unknown, had sister, Lucinda, who married Goodin Deaton. 1860 Clark Co., census shows Barbra Jackson, known mother of Susan and Lucinda, living with daughter, Lucinda Deaton.
Census shows Barbra born in MS, which I believe is wrong. By 1870, Lucinda was dead and her husband, Goodin Deaton, had remarried, so Barbra Jackson was living with her daughter, Susan Garner. 1870 census shows Barbra born in NC, which is probably true. The 3 girls, Elizabeth (who married Hiram Case), Susan and Lucinda were all born in GA. Other Jackson researchers tell me they have been unable to find Barbra Jackson on an 1850 census, but think she was in MS. They also think it is possible that Thomas & Jesse Case took Barbra Jackson to AR from MS to live with her daughter, Lucinda, and that Barbra was their grandmother. Sounds reasonable.
The Cases, Garners, Tuckers, and Jacksons were all in McNairy Co., TN at the same time. 2 of William Case's sons married Jackson women. There were several Jackson families there. One was Isham Jackson and family.
There was an Isham Jackson in MS who married a Furr girl in 1824 and since a Henry Furr testified to Elizabeth Jackson's age when she married Hiram Case, it is thought that Isham may have been her brother. I just wondered if Barbara Jackson and Mary Jackson , who married Martin & Thomas, were kin or if they were the daughters of a MS Jackson. I think I had better hush. The more I type, the more I think all of this is beginning to sound like.. You may be a Redneck if......
I just wanted to give all of you a little background on the Jacksons.
Grace
